Myths and Facts about the ITPAA:
Myth:
The ITPAA is anti-business.
Fact:
The ITPAA supports the development of a strong national economy, and supports
initiatives which enable business to create one. However, the ITPAA believes
that when business goals conflict with the strategic well-being of the US,
the latter should receive priority over the former.
We also actively assist American businesses that are competing against others
that receive unfair treatment (domestic/foreign tax breaks and markets closed
to American firms).
Myth:
The ITPAA is a union.
Fact:
The ITPAA is a business association structured along the
same lines as the American Medical Association (AMA). It is not a union.
Myth:
The ITPAA is xenophobic and racist.
Fact:
The ITPAA represents the interests of American residents and
citizens. It makes no distinction based on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
creed or any other category used to divide people.
The ITPAA supports any firm that hires and employs American
citizens and residents and does not discriminate based on where the
headquarters of that firm is located. Some firms like Toyota employ over 200,000 Americans, whereas
others like IBM are decreasing the
number of Americans it employs. As a result, the ITPAA has found itself
supporting the interest of “foreign” firms against the interest of “American”
ones when the interest of those firms coincides with the greater good of the United States.
When you join the ITPAA, you join with other IT and independent professionals
in one strong, national voice. Together we are shaping the face of technology
and promoting the high technology industry America needs in the 21st
Century.
